Seaplane tender USS Salisbury Sound AV-13 at NAS Alameda, CA August 16, 1958. This was my
younger brother's ship. My ship the USS Midway was just leaving Alameda for West Pac and I had ran into my brother that day. It was my parents wedding anniversary and my sister was also getting married that day and here my brother and I were waving goodby to each other and I was going on a boat ride instead of being at the wedding. The "Sally" was decommissioned 31 Mar 1967 and sold to Ziddell of Portland, OR for scrapping on 07 Feb 1972. |
