The Midway class carriers were the last to have a streamlined look when viewed from the side and she always photographed well. What a beautiful ship to serve on. |

NAS Cubi Point, P.I. construction began in 1951. The base was established in July of 1956 with
some work continuing into 1958. The base is no longer a United States possession being disestablished in October of 1992 as the US Navy abandoned its bases in the Philippines. I was stationed there in 1959-1960 after I left the Midway and it was a welcome sight to see my old ship pull into Subic Bay. |
