My autographed copy of Capt. Blackburn's book "The Jolly Rogers" It
is without a doubt, one of my most treasured possessions. Sadly,
Capt. Blackburn passed away in 1994. It is unfortunate that he will
miss the grand resurrection of his favorite ship as the USS Midway
becomes the centerpiece of the San Diego Aircraft Museum. I am
sure he would have loved to walk the decks once again of the ship he
once commanded and speak to any of his old shipmates that he
might encounter. The crew would have gone to hell and back for him.
