USS Bauer DE-1025 moving up to refuel from Ponchatoula AO-148 in September 1958 off Formosa.
The Midway was also being refueled at the same time. Carrier Princeton CVS-37 in background. The Bauer commissioned in Nov 1957, (the same time Midway was recommissioned), did not have a very long life as Navy ships go serving only 15 years until she was stricken on 03 Dec 73. She was sold for scrapping on 01 Sep 74. In 1975 the "DE" designation was removed from Navy listings and was replaced by "Frigate" |
