BACK TO "MIDWAY JOE'S NAVY"

USS Princeton CVS-37 part of the USS Midway task force in September 1958 in the South China Sea.
The oiler Ponchatoula AO-148 is refueling Midway. The wake on the starboard side of the oiler is
from the USS Radford DDE-446 which had just moved up alongside to refuel. The Princeton was
converted from a CVA to a CVS in Jan 1954 and redesignated as Amphibious Assault Ship LPH-5 on
02 Mar 1959. She was decommissioned and stricken on 30 Jan 1970 and sold for scrap in Sept
1973
