USS MIDWAY ON "YANKEE STATION" EARLY 1960'S

Portside view of USS Midway on "Yankee Station" off the coast of Vietnam in the early
1960's. She has added radar and communications gear since the time I was aboard in the late 1950's. Also, more of the 5" gun mounts have been removed leaving only two on the port side. This configuration was just before she was decommissioned in February of 1966 for her 2nd major overhaul that lasted until January of 1970. |
