First aerial shot of USS Midway pulling into her new home port of Yokosuka, Japan
in 1972. Since her 1966-1970 conversion she now has a much larger flight deck, 3 new elevators and all of the 5 inch guns have been removed. The Midway was the first US carrier to be home ported overseas. Her squadrons however were too noisy to be stationed at Atsugi and were moved to Iwo Jima. |
